Long Island City, New York (LIC) ……where city meets the urban neighborhoods, where luxury high rises are “somewhat” more affordable than Manhattan prices and where you get killer views of the city. Amazing diners, food, graffiti, art studios, fantastic water views, restaurants, and the bustling city life…..oh, and ONE stop from Manhattan!

you know, it’s so easy not to travel anywhere when you live in NYC….because you already have some many different worlds and cultures outside your front door! I love going downtown to Chinatown……it’s just so different than the rest of NYC. It’s still the hustle and bustle of the city, but the sounds, smells and sights are a mix of cultures merging. If you want to find a great Green tea (go here) or a yummy Boba Tai Tea (try here) or some great rice and noodles….this is the place!
Bastille Day is July 14th, but celebrations in NYC are always that weekend before! Great food, fun, music and dance to celebrate……………liberte et paix
ok….so I have posted Central park photo’s before, but I can’t help it! It’s the most beautiful place in New York City.
We had a picnic there for the 4th of July weekend and it just it’s so tranquil. You can still faintly hear the police sirens in the background, but if you take a moment….you forget you are in this crazy concrete jungle of grind and hustle. It is the place New Yorkers can take off their shoes, feel the earth under their feet (even for a few minutes) Are all your problems gone……well no. But, for a moment, you are transported to a bygone era of beautiful structures, gigantic trees, turtles and fish in the ponds, colorful, fragrant flowers, music, laughter and nature.
Hope you guys had a wonderful Independance Day!
enjoy NYC on a budget
