Governors Island: is a 172-acre island in New York Harbor, approximately 800 yards from the southern tip of Manhattan Island and separated from Brooklyn by Buttermilk Channel, approximately 400 yards. For most of its history, Governors Island was a full-service military base for the US Army, then for the Coast Guard. You can get to it by a quick $2 Ferry Trip from The Battery! You can walk around the island or there are bikes to ride! During the FALL months, they have a Pumpkin Patch, which is fun for kids and adults. For more about Governors Island, click here.
