In 1867, one of the designers of Central Park, (Calvert Vaux) decided to develop this area by building Belvedere Castle on the top of the rock. It overlooks the Croton Reservoir, which is the site of the Great Lawn.

ok….so I have posted Central park photo’s before, but I can’t help it! It’s the most beautiful place in New York City.
We had a picnic there for the 4th of July weekend and it just it’s so tranquil. You can still faintly hear the police sirens in the background, but if you take a moment….you forget you are in this crazy concrete jungle of grind and hustle. It is the place New Yorkers can take off their shoes, feel the earth under their feet (even for a few minutes) Are all your problems gone……well no. But, for a moment, you are transported to a bygone era of beautiful structures, gigantic trees, turtles and fish in the ponds, colorful, fragrant flowers, music, laughter and nature.
Hope you guys had a wonderful Independance Day!
